Who attends Black Hat USA
Black Hat, founded in 1997, describes itself as an internationally recognized cybersecurity event series focused on technical security research. Its list of who should attend runs from security practitioners, including analysts, architects and engineers, penetration testers, security software developers, cryptographers, and government employees, to CISOs, executives, consultants, and investors. For 2026 the organizer cites more than 20,000 attendees and an average of six-plus hours spent in the Business Hall.
Black Hat does not support pay-for-play Briefings: its Review Board selects talks on the quality of the research, not sponsorship. That sets the tone on the floor. Exhibitors earn attention with the substance of a demo or a conversation with an engineer, and this audience can tell the difference quickly.
The Black Hat USA Business Hall at Mandalay Bay
Black Hat USA is held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, and the 2026 Business Hall filled Bayside Halls A through D. The organizer says it featured more than 400 solution providers and startups, alongside Arsenal's open-source tool demos and a lab, Pulse Stages with 50-minute sessions and workshops, and a Community Lounge.
The hall is only part of the week, so exhibitors compete with Briefings, summits, and receptions for attendees' time. In 2026 the Business Hall opened with a Welcome Reception on Tuesday evening and ran full days Wednesday and Thursday, with an organized Booth Crawl on Wednesday afternoon.
Black Hat USA dates: Trainings, Briefings, and Business Hall
Black Hat USA 2027 is set for July 31 to August 5 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The organizer hasn't published the 2027 day-by-day schedule yet. In 2026, the six-day program opened with four days of Trainings (August 1 to 4), a Summit Day on August 4, and a two-day main conference with Briefings on August 5 and 6.
The 2026 Business Hall was open 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4 for the Welcome Reception, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday. That's about two and a half days on the floor, so the booth has to work from the first hour; there's no warm-up day.
What Black Hat booths need: demos, theaters, and private briefings
Black Hat's audience wants proof. Demo stations should run real product against realistic scenarios, with large screens angled so a small crowd can follow along and a presenter can take questions without blocking the view. Plan network needs early, and build demos that don't depend on shared venue Wi-Fi.
A common layout pairs demo pods with a small presentation theater and closed rooms for executive briefings. Theaters need seating, sound that stays inside the booth, and sightlines from the aisle; meeting rooms need doors, screens, and quiet. Lead capture should be designed into each zone, so a demo or a seat in the theater ends with a scan and notes for the sales team to follow up.
Black Hat sponsor packages and exhibitor rules
Black Hat sells exhibit space through sponsorship packages and doesn't publish them; prospective exhibitors request the full prospectus. Get the current exhibitor manual as soon as you commit, because booth heights, rigging, and contractor deadlines all come from it.
The most recent public show regulations, posted by GES for the 2023 edition, give a sense of the rules: sponsors couldn't solicit business or hand out literature in the aisles or outside their booth, demonstrations and crowd-gathering activities had to stay inside the booth during show hours, sound was capped at 75 decibels, and ground-supported truss couldn't exceed the height allowed for the booth type. Check the current manual before relying on any of them.
Las Vegas logistics for Black Hat week
Black Hat USA lands at the height of a Las Vegas summer, when heat shapes everything from dock schedules to how long crews can work outside. Mandalay Bay sits at the south end of the Strip, so trucks, crews, and staff housing all need a plan for getting there during a full conference week.
A Las Vegas builder keeps the exhibit and the crew local. The structure travels across town for move-in, and if a demo or launch message changes late, panels and graphics can be recut and reprinted in the same building, then brought to Mandalay Bay without waiting on freight.
A Black Hat USA planning timeline
As general guidance for a late-July show. The Las Vegas trade show calendar lists the dates, our trade show checklist covers the smaller tasks, and the RFP template helps if you're comparing builders:
- Fall and winter: request the prospectus, choose a package, and set goals for leads and meetings
- February and March: brief your builder and develop the concept, demo plan, and theater content
- April and May: final design, AV planning, and the manual's drawing and contractor deadlines
- June and early July: fabrication, graphics, and a walk-through of demo stations in the shop
- Late July: move-in, network testing, and staff rehearsal before the hall opens
