Bayside, Shoreline, and the ballrooms
The main exhibit floor is the Bayside Exhibition Halls on Level 1 of the South Convention Center: six halls, A through F, totaling 861,231 square feet under 30-foot ceilings, which MGM sizes at 4,067 10-by-10 booths across all six. MGM's capacities guide lists Bayside A at 48,722 square feet, B at 169,587, C at 177,929, D at 170,052, E at 146,979, and F at 147,961.
Level 2 holds the Shoreline Exhibit Hall, the 95,388-square-foot Mandalay Bay Ballroom with a 30-foot ceiling, the Oceanside Ballroom at about 69,700 square feet under 29-foot ceilings, and an upper dock area. Level 3 adds the 48,327-square-foot South Seas Ballroom, and the North Convention Center holds the South Pacific and Islander ballrooms, both with 26-foot ceilings.
Floor loads and column spacing in the Bayside halls
The six Bayside halls don't share one spec. MGM rates Bayside A through D at 350 pounds per square foot with columns on 60-foot centers, while Bayside E and F are rated at 250 pounds per square foot with columns on 108-foot centers. That difference matters for vehicles, machinery, or a heavy double-deck, and for how a large island lands among the columns.
Ask show management which Bayside hall your booth falls in, and request the floor plan with column locations before the design is final. A 40-by-40 island on a 60-foot grid may have a column to work around; the wider spacing in E and F leaves more open floor but less load capacity. Our trade show exhibit designs start from that floor plan.
Show rules in the Bayside halls: the Shoptalk example
Shows set booth rules well below the building's 30-foot ceiling. Shoptalk Spring, which puts its exhibit hall in Bayside on Level 1, publishes a typical set: 8-foot back walls for 10-by-10 through 10-by-30 booths, a 16-foot maximum for islands of 20 by 20 or larger, hanging signs only over booths of 400 square feet or more, and an 18-foot maximum to the top of a hanging sign.
Its exhibitor FAQ also shows how rigging splits here. Freeman, the show's general contractor, rigs non-electrical hanging signs under 200 pounds, while signs over 200 pounds or with electrical go through Mandalay Bay Exhibitor Services and Encore, and hanging signs must ship ahead to the Freeman warehouse. Other shows will differ, so treat this as a pattern to confirm, not a rule.
Black Hat USA and other Mandalay Bay shows
Black Hat USA 2026 ran August 1–6 at Mandalay Bay, with more than 400 exhibitors in a Business Hall in Bayside A through D from August 4 to 6, according to the organizer. Shoptalk Spring returns March 22–24, 2027, and HD Expo + Conference moves to May 3–5, 2027.
Many of these events mix the expo with keynotes, private briefings, and sponsor events across the resort, so a booth's furniture, graphics, and lighting can be reused in a meeting suite or reception. Our event design and fabrication work plans those pieces to travel between spaces. The Las Vegas trade show calendar lists each show's dates as organizers confirm them.
Freight, contractors, and catering at Mandalay Bay
At Shoptalk Spring, Freeman handles material handling exclusively, carriers must use Freeman to unload, and the organizer strongly recommends shipping to the advance warehouse. Exhibitor-appointed contractors file the show's third-party forms and get into the exhibit halls during move-in and move-out only. Hand-carry is limited to small packages or cartons one person can carry, without access to material handling areas.
The same FAQ says Mandalay Bay is the exclusive provider of all food and beverage in the exhibit halls, with catering ordered through Mandalay Bay Exhibitor Services, which also supplies booth electrical. For a coffee bar, sampling counter, or lounge, design the counter and power around the hotel's catering and electrical orders, and put those order deadlines on your trade show checklist.
From our shop to the south end of the Strip
Of the four major convention venues, Mandalay Bay is the nearest to our shop at 4545 W Reno Ave in the southwest valley. Proximity doesn't change the rules: the truck still checks in wherever the show's contractor directs, and the contractor still unloads at the dock. What it changes is response time when a panel needs recutting or a graphic needs reprinting during install.
Our facility covers design, fabrication, finishing, and install, with The Job Shop's CNC routing and fiber laser and Vegas Visual's large-format print in the same building. That helps at Mandalay Bay, where an exhibit can have siblings: a lounge in a ballroom, directional graphics on Level 2, a branded meeting room. For the step-by-step version, read our Mandalay Bay exhibitor checklist, or start a project and we'll reply within 24 hours.
